Ms. Elvira Gagua, Child Development Worker of Brgy. Nagsabaran Norte, is among the Outstanding Day Care Workers of La Union for 2017. Awarding Ceremonies were held last November 29, 2017 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union. Ms. Gagua, together with her fellow awardees, received a cash prize and plaque of recognition from the Provincial Government of La Union headed by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III.
The municipality of Balaon, La Union received the Purple Ribbon Award during the Pammadayaw ti DOH 2017 held at Bangko Sentral Convention Hall, San Fernando City, La Union last December 14, 2017. It ranked first in La Union and first runner-up in Region 1.
The Purple Ribbon Award, which was launched in 2016, recognizes local government units as well as civil society organizations for their exemplary practices, accomplishments and innovations in the implementation of Reproductive Health and Family Planning Program.
In a move to modernize and make more effective the delivery of fire safety and preparedness in the community, the municipal government donated to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) a piece of its property formerly known as the Balaoan Children’s Park in Barangay Antonino paving the way for the construction of a new municipal fire station. With the donation of the lot, the Balaoan Fire Station finally hurdled its greatest obstacle in its programmed infrastructure works that will certainly get the construction rolling.

The Pabasa sa Nutrisyon Exemplary Award recognizes LGUs and organizations that have successfully implemented the Pabasa sa Nutrisyon (PSN) and received the PSN Outstanding Award for at least two (2) years.

It may also lead to contamination of water supply sources which may result to outbreak of diseases such as cholera and gastroenteritis. In addition, improper and unsanitary excreta disposal brings about unsightly conditions and foul odors, which are a definite nuisance to any community.
