Balaoan affirms its commitment as a friendly haven for effective child care and protection as it received the Seal of Child Friendly Governance Award for 2018. Balaoan has been receiving said award since 2014.
“The recognition that we have just received proves once and for all our resolve to make Balaoan not only a peaceful and progressive community but more importantly a place where children are given prime importance in socio-economic welfare and well-being,” Balaoan lady mayor Atty. Aleli U. Concepcion said.
Manila– Balaoan lady mayor, Atty.Aleli U. Concepcion, and local municipal officials receive the 2018 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) marker from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) during ceremonies at the Tent City, Manila Hotel on November 6, 2018 which enables the municipal government to access a P3.2 million allocation from the Performance Challenge Fund to help finance the town’s high impact capital investment projects like water and sanitation system, access roads and health centers. This is the second SGLG award received by the municipality after having won its first under the leadership of then Mayor and now Vice Mayor Atty. Al-Fred O. Concepcion in 2015.
Manila– 2018 proved to be a bountiful year for the municipality of Balaoan as it continued to harvest national awards and recognitions.
In ceremonies held at the Tent City, Manila Hotel on December 28, 2018, the municipality was awarded a Plaque of Recognition and a Cash Incentive of Php250,000 after it was declared a Gold Awardee in the First Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Performance Audit for having garnered a perfect score of 100 in the functionality of its local ADAC for 2017.
Ms. Elvira Gagua, Child Development Worker of Brgy. Nagsabaran Norte, is among the Outstanding Day Care Workers of La Union for 2017. Awarding Ceremonies were held last November 29, 2017 at the Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union. Ms. Gagua, together with her fellow awardees, received a cash prize and plaque of recognition from the Provincial Government of La Union headed by Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III.
The municipality of Balaon, La Union received the Purple Ribbon Award during the Pammadayaw ti DOH 2017 held at Bangko Sentral Convention Hall, San Fernando City, La Union last December 14, 2017. It ranked first in La Union and first runner-up in Region 1.
The Purple Ribbon Award, which was launched in 2016, recognizes local government units as well as civil society organizations for their exemplary practices, accomplishments and innovations in the implementation of Reproductive Health and Family Planning Program.
In a move to modernize and make more effective the delivery of fire safety and preparedness in the community, the municipal government donated to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) a piece of its property formerly known as the Balaoan Children’s Park in Barangay Antonino paving the way for the construction of a new municipal fire station. With the donation of the lot, the Balaoan Fire Station finally hurdled its greatest obstacle in its programmed infrastructure works that will certainly get the construction rolling.
