Balaoan Conducts Clean-up Drive
In support of Proclamation No. 760 series of 2014 declaring every month of January as Zero Waste Month, as well as the 17th signing anniversary of R.A. 9003 or the Solid Waste Management Act on January 16, 2017, the Municipality of Balaoan conducted a municipal-wide clean-up drive on January 20, 2017. Mayor Aleli U. Concepcion issued a memorandum order encouraging and inviting all the 36 barangays, public and private schools, non-government organizations and national government agencies in the municipality to support and participate in the municipal clean-up drive.
With the help of the municipal government, 48 groups with a total number of 7,016 participants were able to register on-line through the clean-up drive registration link. The clean-up drive focused on the cleaning and clearing of canals, rivers, roads, parks and other dirty areas in the municipality. After the conduct of the activity, participants submitted their pictures for validation by DENR.
It was a successful activity and Mayor Concepcion encouraged all the participants to continue and come-up with a regular cleaning activity in order to attain a cleaner and healthier Balaoan.
