Balaoan Drug Surenderees undergo Livelihood Training
The Municipal Government of Balaoan, La Union through the able leadership of our Honorable Mayor, Atty. Aleli U. Concepcion is true to its commitment in the elimination of illegal drugs in the locality. Our municipal mayor has instructed the office of the MSWD and the Balaoan PNP headed by PCI Jeofrey Sanchez to coordinate on all possible reintegration programs for the surrendered drug personalities.
Thus, on November 15, 2016, the opening program for a livelihood training program was held at the Balaoan Farmers Civic Center with seventy five (75) drug surenderees as participants. The training is on Parol/Lantern Making, Handicrafts Making and Mushroom Production. The Welcome Remarks was given by Atty. Joanna Katrina L. Ledda – SBM/Committee Vice-Chair on Peace and Order. La Union Police Provincial Director, PSSUPT Leo M. Francisco also graced the event. MayorAleli U. Concepcion delivered an inspirational message to the drug surenderees and emphasized that the anti-drug program of the municipality is serious.
For the Parol/Lantern Making, 2 detainees from the BJMP were tapped as resource providers while Mr. Martin Orfiano, Kagawad of Brgy. Ar-arampang, took charge of the handicrafts making program. On the other hand, four principals from the public elementary schools shared their knowledge on mushroom culture/ production, namely:Mrs. Mary Jane Tayco of Guinaburan Elementary School, Mrs. Paz C. Orate of Bulbulala Elementary School, Mrs. Magdalena R. Navor of Pantar Sur Elementary School and Mrs. Noemi Francisco of Almeida Elementary School.
