LGU BALAOAN STRENGTHENS ITS VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION PROGRAM

LGU Balaoan further intensifies its voluntary blood donor recruitment campaign to include LGU employees, line agencies, NGOs, student groups and BHWs. In partnership with the Ilocos Training and  Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) and  the Provincial Health Office (PHO), LGU Balaoan conducted its first blood- letting activity for 2017 last March 24. A total of 147 potential blood donors registered, 41 of whom were deferred during the donor screening interview and due to low hemoglobin resulting to 104Balaoanians who were successfully bled.

As a result of this continuing blood donation program, LGU Balaoan now maintains its own Municipal Blood Pool at the ITRMC which can be tapped during emergency situations involving residents of Balaoan.

Our goal is to have at least 1% of the total population as voluntary blood donors and we are slowly on our way to achieving this. You can do your part by being a blood donor too. Be someone’s miracle. Join our next Blood- letting Activity on May 12, 2017.
