This Old Putik Jars were used as a container or storage for fermented fish sauce (padas) or “baggoong a padas” and salt which old folks make during Good Friday. They are one of the most important kitchen items in every Filipino household during the old times. It is used as a vessel for storing spices and seasoning such as salt, fermented fish sauce (bagoong) and vinegar. They also use this in storing water and local wine such as the Ilocano basi. It is owned by Dolores Nelmida and bequeathed to her niece Lorna Bautista of Brgy. Paraoir, Balaoan, La Union. Now , the family preserved the putik jars as memory of their childhood.
