The Sinapangan Acacia Tree is one of the few century old trees in the municipality. Old folks could attest that the acacia tree was already there even before they and their predecessors were born.

The old Robinson Piano was bought in 1910 by the Nuval Family in Cabua-an. It was transported from Germany to Manila through plane and from Manila to La Union via train.

OSIAS-BASCONCILLO ANCESTRAL HOUSE

The Osias-Basconcillo Ancestral  House is one of the few old houses in the municipality. It is located at the town’s pueblo or poblacion area. It is near the Balaoan Public Market and a few meters away from the church and the municipal hall.

BALAOAN TOWN PLAZA WELCOME ARCH

The Balaoan Town Plaza Welcome Arch was built on July 04, 1946, after the World War II. It serves as waiting area for travelers taking the public transport from the municipalities of Balaoan, Luna and Santol and some part of the Municipality of Sudipen going to the South. As the old folks say,  Balaoan became a stop-over area for travelers from the province of Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte after the World War II and during Martial Law. Because of the imposition of curfew during Martial Law, many Ilocano travelers stopped at Balaoan to take a rest .They will stay at the  ground floor of the “Presidencia” or Municipal Hall and at the town plaza for a night before they continue their trip early in the morning.

SEA URCHIN FARM

Sea Urchin Farm, located at BarangaysParaoir and Almeida is ten (10) kilometers away from the town proper (via Municipality of Luna). It is  a project of Paraoir& Almeida Fisherfolks Associations in cooperation  with the Local Government Unit of Balaoan. Sea Urchin,Balaoan’s OTOP (One Town, One Product), is known to be an aphrodisiac, can be eaten raw or cooked and has health benefits when consumed in moderation.

The beaches of Barangays Paraoir and Almeida are considered as “must see” beaches in the Province of La Union. Almeida has been adjudged as the cleanest coastal area in the province for 2010. The beaches of Paraoir and Almeida are a good place for swimming, boating, fishing and picnics.

DALISUNGSUNG FALLS

DALISUNGSUNG FALLS is located 8 kilometers away from the town proper (6 kilometers from town proper to BarangayBungol and 2 kilometers from Bungol National Highway to Dalisungsung Falls). Dalisungsung is the Ilocano term for funnel, old folks called it Dalisungsung because it channels water to the agricultural lands of Bungol.

APALENG PARK

APALENG PARK was developed by BarangayButubut Norte. The place is a good venue for picnic, site-seeing and boating. Picnic shades are available for rent. The area also showcases environment-friendly practices, Barangay Butubut Norte being the National Champion in the Search for Best Implementer of the Solid Waste Management Program of the National Government in 2008.
